A grant to Hennepin History Museum funds a series of plant walks led by Dakota and Anishinaabe storyteller and artist Tanáǧidaŋ Tó Wíŋ (Blue Hummingbird Woman or Tara Perron). At Stormwater Park and Learning Center, as well as other locations around Minneapolis, she demonstrates how to identify native plants, their traditional medicinal uses, and their impact on water quality. Walk locations include Crosby Farm Regional Park, Carl W. Kroening Nature Center, Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary, and Mississippi Watershed Management Organization’s Stormwater Park and Learning Center. Tanáǧidaŋ Tó Wíŋ will also provide a formal presentation about Dakota medicine plants and her family’s heritage as water protectors at MWMO’s Stormwater Park and Learning Center. Event photography will be provided by Jaida Grey Eagle (Oglala Lakota).
