Weaving Water: Monthly Fiber & Indigo Workshop

Weaving Water welcomes guest artist Amoke Kubat of YO MAMA’s House for Stitch & Flow: Dream Weaving Stories from the Mississippi River Black Experience. Amoke will share stories of the African-American Mississippi River experience. MWMO artist-in-residence Sarah Nassif will teach simple stitching techniques all ages can enjoy. Sew a small indigo dyed dream pillow to fill with herbs for good dreams. Stitch, listen and find inspiration in the flow of the river, dreams and stories.
The workshop is scheduled to be in person at MWMO. However, should COVID-19 conditions change, the workshop will take place online via zoom and project kits will be mailed out.

About Amoke Kubat
Amoke Kubat is a multidisciplinary artist, Culture Bearer/Elder. She is the recipient of the 2021 MSAB Creative Support Individual grant, a fellow for the 20/20 Springboard for the Arts and 2021 Jerome Hill Fellowship in Playwriting/Theater.
Amoke is the creator/ceo of YO MAMA’ that offers “The Art of Mothering Workshops” and YO MAMA’S House Cooperative, a shared (nonresidential) space for mothers who are artists, community activists or healers. We mother. We make. We mentor.
