Level 2 Smart Salting

Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

A pair of maintenance workers shoveling snow.

Level 2 Smart Salting is a free, 4.5-hour computer-based class for winter maintenance leaders such as public works managers, supervisors, business owners, and other lead staff.

Learn how to use a new, web-based Winter Maintenance Assessment tool (WMAt) and begin steps for your organization to become Level 2 Minnesota Pollution Control Agency-certified.

Using the WMAt, review your organization’s past, present, and future winter maintenance practices. The tool will help your organization reduce salt use and apply salt efficiently. Learn to use the tool to create a series of reports for internal training, budgeting, and communicating with officials who fund maintenance work. Tool outputs are based on your organization’s current and future practices.

At the end of training, you will be ready to submit your MPCA Smart Salting Level 2 Certification. Small class size and ample help ensures a positive training experience.

Training is free. Lunch is provided. Please bring a laptop to use the web-based tool.

When registering, indicate if you do not have a laptop so that one can be made available.

Parking:
Car-pooling is encouraged!
Drivers please use free, on-street (along Marshall Street and in the surrounding neighborhood).
Parking is not allowed in the Tony Jaros parking lot or in nearby businesses’ lots. See parking map.
