Mississippi Musings
Join us at MWMO this year to explore Mississippi Musings, a workshop series diving deep into the Mississippi River. This series is inspired by Sacred Water, Shared Future, a growing movement in the Twin Cities dedicated to the health of the Mississippi River. The campaign celebrates a century of progress and inspires continued action to care for the river. Sacred Water, Shared Future is celebrating community, storytelling, education, and conservation as part of a year-long campaign in 2026.
Each session features a scientist or local expert alongside a guest storyteller, who will share insights and personal stories around a unique river-related theme. From climate resilience and warming winters to restoration, recreation, and community connections, together, we’ll explore how the river shapes our lives and how we can help shape its future.
Each workshop also includes a hands-on creative activity in which participants can reflect, create, and contribute to a collaborative art piece that will be showcased at an end-of-year celebration.
Come ready to listen, learn, sip some tea or coffee, and share your own stories. Whether you’re passionate about the environment, curious about local science, or simply love the river, this series offers a meaningful and inspiring way to connect with nature and with one another.
Still Moving Sound Bath
Join us for a guided sound bath experience that invites you to connect with the mind and the river, beginning with a pause that invites stillness and listening. The human body is made of nearly 60% water, mirroring the river’s own flowing nature. In this session, you’ll be guided into stillness, turning your attention inward to notice subtle movement, breath, and rhythm.
The river’s flow creates sound as water meets rock. The crystal singing bowls, formed from earth, stone, and crystal, carry these same elemental origins. As their tones fill the space, gentle vibrations move through the body, bringing inner and outer waters into into confluence, resonating through the body. In this shared sound and stillness, we return to a natural rhythm, remembering a sense of presence that has always been there.
This immersive workshop offers a moment of rest, reflection, and sensory connection that encourages you to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with both yourself and the river.
