Situated in the heart of the Northeast Arts District, the MWMO has long recognized art as a powerful tool for connection. Creative expression helps us translate complex ideas, investigate environmental challenges from new angles, and connect our communities to the Mississippi River.
The MWMO has embraced arts-engaged outreach programs to invite diverse, multigenerational audiences into our work to protect and improve water quality and habitat in the watershed. Whether through public exhibitions, hands-on workshops, or artist residencies, our arts programs invite people to look more closely, think more deeply, and build a stronger sense of stewardship for the river and its watershed.

AWE Network
AWE (Art + Water + Ecology) is a professional networking organization founded by the MWMO and artist-in-residence, Sarah Nassif. AWE brings together professionals from the worlds of art + water + ecology whose work is to connect people with nature. We are building a community of practice to find new ways of collaborating across disciplines, remove barriers and share success stories.
