MPCA Turfgrass Maintenance Certification Training

This Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) summer turfgrass maintenance training focuses on best management practices (BMPs) for lawn/turf care maintenance that can save you money while protecting our valued lakes and streams. This in-person training is about 6 hours long, plus a short test.

- Private/public park
- Cemetery, city and/or school grounds maintenance professionals
- Property managers writing contracts
- Turf care product distributors
Topics covered:
- Environmental impacts of common turf BMPs to surface & groundwater
- Life cycle of turf/weeds and appropriate control practices
- Soil testing and fertilizer selection/application
- Pesticide application tips
- Equipment calibration and maintenance
- Efficient and effective irrigation
- Equipment calibration & improved mowing techniques
- Legal issues
- In-field reference materials
Take the test at the end of training to get certified and be listed on the MPCA Turfgrass training webpage. Certificates are sent to Minnesota participants only and are valid for five years.
This is an in-person training and lunch will be provided
