About this Event
This online MPCA Smart Salting for Roads Certification Training offers more efficient and effective winter maintenance best practices for plowing, de-icing and anti-icing application, storage, and more. The training will cover the new chloride requirements in the recently released MS4 permit.

- Public or private winter maintenance staff that consistently manage winter roads
- Those who hire out or supervise winter maintenance professionals

- Plowing and physical removal
- Calculating application rates
- Equipment calibration
- Use real-time weather condition information more efficiently
- BMPs for storing materials

- Customer and staff educational resources
Earn the MPCA Smart Salting for Roads Certification and be listed on the MPCA Smart Salting Training webpage. The certification is valid for five years. The online test is optional and only offered at the end of training.
Cost: There is no cost to attend this training, but registration is required.
Register HereOnline access: Before the training date, an email with instructions and an access link will be sent per registration. You will need a computer/laptop to use during the training in order to use the web-based tool.
This training is funded by the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and is offered in partnership with Fortin Consulting and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency through the Clean Water Fund.
