The MWMO has a variety of education and outreach programs to help people learn more about our work and how we can all work together to protect water quality and habitat in and around the Mississippi River.
Programs on our site, the MWMO Stormwater Park and Learning Center, are geared for youth (7th grade and older) and/or adults in groups of 30 or less, although we can accommodate larger groups in some cases. Programs are generally 1-2 hours in length.
Off-site options are available for a wider variety of ages and group sizes. Please feel free to contact us with your specific needs. All programs are offered free of charge.
These workshops focus on helping educators integrate high-quality water-focused programming into area classrooms and informal educational settings. Contact us to set up a workshop for your group or watch our schedule for upcoming workshops.
Professional Development and Training Programs
The MWMO works with its partners to provide high-quality professional development and training programs to equip professionals with knowledge and skills to implement best practices to protect water quality and habitat in our watershed and beyond.
Mississippi River Green Team
The Mississippi River Green Team is a two-year employment and conservation program for Minneapolis youth, in partnership with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The Green Team is an opportunity for youth to have a mentored job experience, learn about environmental careers and acquire new skills.
Would you like the MWMO to have a presence at an event in your community? MWMO staff come to neighborhood and community events to share activities and resources related to water quality and stormwater management.
Work with the MWMO to develop an extended program that fits the needs of your group and provides a deeper dive into local water issues. Programs will explore the Mississippi River, water quality and habitat.
