Pre-Construction Public Meeting for North Columbia Golf Course Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs)

Please join the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization (MWMO), the City of Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) for a public virtual meeting on October 20, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to hear about the new stormwater management project that will be constructed within the northern half of the Columbia Golf Course and Columbia Park. The project partners will share information on their joint effort to improve water quality, mitigate flooding, improve habitat, and enhance recreational opportunities in Northeast Minneapolis as part of the Northeast Stormwater Management Initiative. The project will include reconstruction of the wet pond in the northeast part of the Golf Course, a dry basin at the multi-use athletic field in Columbia Park, an infiltration basin in the northwest corner of the golf course, and native plantings and habitat restoration throughout the golf course and park. Contractors will also install a new stormwater pipe to lower the risk of flooding in the upstream neighborhoods east of the golf course as well as within the golf course and park. Project construction will start on or after October 26, 2020.
