Waterways and Otterways
Local artist Kat Corrigan is bringing her show Waterways and Otterways, a collection of river otter paintings, to our Stormwater Park and Learning Center this fall and winter. Corrigan has always been intrigued by otters and she loves to explore their movement and connection with the land and the water through her paintings.
After becoming nearly extinct, river otters have returned to some urban stretches of the Mississippi River. These dynamic and engaging mammals are a powerful reminder of the importance of protecting water quality and habitat in and along the river.
Along with her husband, artist Duane Tougas, and their son, Max, Corrigan will host four community events at the MWMO during the exhibition. Each of these events will have a variety of ways to engage with and learn more about otters in the Mississippi River, including a puppet show and community and individual art projects for people of all ages. These events are free and open to the public.
